{"id":1189,"date":"2016-04-13T20:26:28","date_gmt":"2016-04-13T20:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=1189"},"modified":"2020-08-05T23:46:45","modified_gmt":"2020-08-05T23:46:45","slug":"alpha-0_8_6-changes","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/alpha-0_8_6-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Alpha 0_8_6 Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is new in the Alpha 0_8_6 release\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 [April 13, 2016]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">SNIP <\/span><\/strong>underwent a general rework of the loading logic in the <em><a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-relay-streams-tab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Relay Streams Tab<\/a><\/em> to make editing and adding streams easier.\u00a0 Now, rather than selecting an existing file with the list of casters to be loaded and run, the tool provides a dialog to add\/edit a caster and to set various controls.\u00a0 This provides a cleaner user experience that is similar to the way many NTRIP Client tools have a dialog to handle similar connections.\u00a0 It also allows changing one stream without interrupting service on the other active streams.\u00a0 In addition, a collection of the user&#8217;s favorite settings for each mount point and for each caster are maintained to allow easy reconfiguration.\u00a0 All this new magic is found in the right-click <strong>Edit<\/strong> button.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/adding-remote-relayed-data-streams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This <\/a>article describes the new features in more detail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/RightClickRelayTab_086c.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1215\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-post-mid wp-image-1215\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/RightClickRelayTab_086c-600x395.png\" alt=\"RightClickRelayTab_086c\" width=\"600\" height=\"395\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/RightClickRelayTab_086c-600x395.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/RightClickRelayTab_086c-300x198.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/RightClickRelayTab_086c-50x33.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/RightClickRelayTab_086c-320x211.png 320w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/RightClickRelayTab_086c.png 644w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>now ships with a set of serial port device setup scripts for the popular <strong>uBlox 6T<\/strong> and <strong>uBlox M8T<\/strong>\u00a0 L1-only devices, as well as setup scripts for the <strong>Hemisphere Eclipse<\/strong> family of precision L1-L2 GPS\/GLO devices.\u00a0 These setup scripts are files with commands that provide common configuration values. They are used for setting the GNSS device to send only the desired information to the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>Caster.\u00a0 Users can easily create their own command sequences to meet unique needs as well.\u00a0 A new protocol decoder supports viewing the commands and replies for debugging use.\u00a0 At this time the <strong>Novatel OEM<\/strong> protocol is scheduled to be the next GNSS design to have scripts added and for native message decoding support.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/sending-serial-setup-commands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This <\/a>article describes using the new serial command features in more detail.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>now provides a\u00a0 basic universal message decoder to augment the detailed RTCM3 message decoder which <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>has always had.\u00a0 While the detailed RTCM3 message decoder provides an <em>element by element<\/em> view of the RTCM3 message contents in the streams in its own dialog, the universal message decoder provides a short summary of what protocol types and messages are present in the selected stream (such as NMEA mixed with proprietary data).\u00a0 Various stream monitoring methods are further described <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/monitoring-a-stream-text-and-graphical-tools\/\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Minor changes in the way <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>handles graphical charting when monitoring a stream were made to allow adding more chart types.<\/li>\n<li>The web site Knowledge base for <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>has grown by over four dozen new articles since the last\u00a0 alpha release in mid-March.<\/li>\n<li>We expect to move to a beta release level at the end of the month.\u00a0 At that time we will open the door for wider testing and allow purchasing of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>by the general public to begin.
