More robust filtering abilities\u00a0 have been added to allow a finer control of what information is displayed. At the same time, an array of prior log entries allows using these filters to redisplay the log in various ways to show or hide types of data on command. In a <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-what-is-an-ntrip-caster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> NTRIP Caster<\/a> with dozens of active connections and many clients, these new abilities are useful to filter the displayed console information to only the context of current interest.\u00a0 Using the filters is covered further in <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/how-to-use-filter-controls-the-details\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this knowledge base article<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/FilterMenus2-merged2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1371 size-post-mid\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/FilterMenus2-merged2-600x534.png\" alt=\"FilterMenus2-merged2\" width=\"600\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/FilterMenus2-merged2-600x534.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/FilterMenus2-merged2-300x267.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/FilterMenus2-merged2-768x684.png 768w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/FilterMenus2-merged2-50x45.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/FilterMenus2-merged2-320x285.png 320w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/FilterMenus2-merged2.png 883w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>filter controls can be accessed from <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">two<\/span> areas in the program:\u00a0 the menu system or the pop-up controls located just above the console log area.\u00a0 Both provide the same menus and functionality.<\/li>\n<li>The <em>types<\/em> of information filters include <em>displaying<\/em> or <em>suppressing<\/em> the various <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/stream-types\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">types of streams<\/a> (remote, UART, and pushed), the progress of <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-what-is-an-ntrip-client\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NTRIP Client<\/a> connections, and various system level messages. This is described further in a <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/filtering-by-stream-types\/\">KB article<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Besides the basic stream types, Information about each individual data stream (mount point) that your caster provides can be filtered <em>on<\/em> or <em>off<\/em> to allow focusing visual attention only on the streams of interest. This is described further in a <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/filtering-by-stream-name-by-mount-point\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KB article.<\/a>\u00a0 The image above shows a list of streams active on that Caster.<\/li>\n<li>A general <strong>Log Threshold<\/strong> filter level provides the primary means to control overall verbosity by selecting <em>more<\/em> or <em>fewer<\/em> details about the displayed events, and is described further in this <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/how-to-use-the-threshold-filter-control\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KB article<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The<strong> Filter Log<\/strong> check box provides a means to quickly enable or disable a complex filter setup, while a <strong>Reset All<\/strong> menu item allows easily reverting to a more normal display state.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>now has a simple wizard to assist in setting up new <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-relay-streams-tab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Relayed Stream<\/a> connections. This provides a focused multiple step process to enter all the required connection details, rather than the more complex <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/adding-remote-relayed-data-streams\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Add New Caster Stream<\/a> dialog which advanced users may prefer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Wizard_RemoteTCP.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1372 \" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Wizard_RemoteTCP-300x243.png\" alt=\"Wizard_RemoteTCP\" width=\"538\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Wizard_RemoteTCP-300x243.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Wizard_RemoteTCP-768x623.png 768w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Wizard_RemoteTCP-50x41.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Wizard_RemoteTCP-320x260.png 320w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Wizard_RemoteTCP.png 799w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 538px) 100vw, 538px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The wizard uses the same underlying technology found in other parts of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>to assist the user by populating fields including user account name, password, and port numbers based on the user&#8217;s prior connections to each host.\u00a0 At this time, a similar wizard tool is also being developed for use with the serial stream connections tab.\u00a0 A <em>step by step<\/em> KB article can be found <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/using-the-remote-relay-connection-wizard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; text-align: center;\">Other improvements in this release include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adding a test button to allow the user to quickly confirm that the user&#8217;s remote FTP setting allows actual connection to the remote host (Located in the FTP Dialog which is part of the Log Setting Dialog under the Data File Setting menu item).<\/li>\n<li>Logic was added to ensure that the minor \u201cHint\u201d console entries are not repeated to reduce overall console log clutter. This, along with the recent filter logic described above, allows a much cleaner log display.<\/li>\n<li>Further changes to<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong> SNIP<\/strong><\/span>&#8216;s core server code were made to resolve naming conflicts and accommodate using RTKLIB libraries as a navigation quality checking tool when in Unix builds.<\/li>\n<li>Initial Linux installation scripts for <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 have been built and are undergoing testing. The diversity of possible folder locations for installing over different builds remains the primary problem to overcome at this point.<\/li>\n<li>Further logic changes to support the one hour time limit for the evaluation of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>in pro and basic modes were made. The Server and stream shutdown process is now cleaner and some explanatory notes are presented to the user urging them to register <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>A button has been added to allow forcing an immediate reconnect for any caster stream that had timed out and is awaiting a reconnect. This has value when a remote caster has gone offline for a considerable period of time and the user wants to reconnect to it immediately rather than waiting for the next timed interval.<\/li>\n<li>In release 0.8.6 the allowed port number for remote connections was limited to the range 0~10000, this limit was removed, as some casters use higher port numbers.\u00a0 As an example, the Michigan State network uses values starting at 10001 and above, while Alabama starts some of their network at 15000 and above.<\/li>\n<li>The log entries can now be displayed in a variety of tagged and nontagged formats to quickly see what slot or stream caused an entry. A menu item under <strong><em>Display By Types<\/em><\/strong> allows selecting this.<\/li>\n<li>The web site Knowledge Base (KB) for <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>has continued to grow with more new articles since the last alpha release in mid-April.<\/li>\n<li>We expect to move to a Beta release level at the end of May.\u00a0 At that time we will open the door for wider testing to the general public and allow purchasing of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> to begin.
