{"id":1388,"date":"2016-05-15T18:35:55","date_gmt":"2016-05-15T18:35:55","guid":{"rendered":"\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=1388"},"modified":"2018-03-10T20:51:55","modified_gmt":"2018-03-10T20:51:55","slug":"filtering-by-stream-name-by-mount-point","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/filtering-by-stream-name-by-mount-point\/","title":{"rendered":"Filtering by Stream Name (by mount point)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> console supports filtering displayed entries by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">their Stream Name<\/span> (by their published mount points).\u00a0 The list of\u00a0 <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/how-to-read-a-mountpt-string\/\">mountPt<\/a> entries changes dynamically as streams are added and removed in the Caster.\u00a0 The image below shows the drop-down menu with a set of mountPt (from various US States, AL, CA,and MI) that were operating on that machine; your own list will of course differ.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/filters02.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1402\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/filters02.png\" alt=\"filters02\" width=\"605\" height=\"545\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Your NTRIP Clients view your SNIP Caster in terms of the specific mountPt they wish to connect to, regardless of the stream type to which is belongs.\u00a0 As the operator of an NTRIP Caster, it is likely you will also need to view the various mountPt categorized by the <em>type<\/em> of connection they represent (remote-relay, serial UART, or PUSH data connections) &#8211; see the article on<a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/filtering-by-stream-types\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> filtering by types<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/span>: Several types of log entries dealing with the operation of the caster or the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> system itself do not have proper mountPt names, and use their base type names when a mountPt style of log display is being used.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/span>:\u00a0 In order to use filtering by the stream name, the correct <strong>type <\/strong>of filter must NOT be filtered (the checkbox must be off). For example, to filter the console only to display a serial type caster with the mountPt &#8220;myUblox,&#8221; all other caster names should be disabled (use the &#8220;Show None&#8221; menu item, select the &#8220;myUblox&#8221; menu), <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>and<\/strong><\/span> the check box for &#8220;Serial Caster Details&#8221; should remain checked &#8211; to indicate that such a type will be shown.\u00a0 Set the Log Threshold for the level of detail desired.\u00a0 This ensures that the log events for the desired stream are not filtered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Hint<\/strong><\/span>:\u00a0 Old mountPt types (any mountPt which <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> is no longer actively connecting to) are removed from the menu but remain in the log.\u00a0 They can be viewed in isolation from other streams when the filter is set to &#8220;none.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Hint<\/strong><\/span>: A more common need relates to re-connection attempts to remote Casters.\u00a0 The connection details of any remote-relay mountPt that is not successfully connecting (i.e. the connection is reattempted every few seconds to every tens of minutes) can be observed when the threshold is set to the &#8220;minor&#8221; mode. Additional details about the connection attempt can be observed with the &#8220;Reconnects&#8221; check box (in the <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-relay-streams-tab\/\">Relay Streams <\/a>tab) has been checked.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Hint<\/strong><\/span>:\u00a0 Problems with client connections (<a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-what-is-an-ntrip-client\/\">NTRIP Clients<\/a> failing to connect) are best handled by setting the threshold level to minor and enabling the &#8220;Display New User Connection Details&#8221; check box (in the <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-caster-and-clients-tab\/\">Caster and Clients<\/a> tab).\u00a0 By examining the log report the problem is usually quite evident.
