{"id":3246,"date":"2017-03-03T00:52:34","date_gmt":"2017-03-03T00:52:34","guid":{"rendered":"\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=3246"},"modified":"2020-06-11T17:19:57","modified_gmt":"2020-06-11T17:19:57","slug":"release-1_5_0-changes","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/release-1_5_0-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Release 1_05_0 Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is new in the<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> SNIP<\/span> 1_5_0 release<\/strong>\u00a0 [released March 3rd 2017]<br \/>\nThis is the next release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> following the Rev 1_4_0 release of last month (February 14th) with some major new functionality.\u00a0 It is recommended for all users and is now the primary download.\u00a0 This release has further improved the various <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/support-for-basic-mapping\/\">map displays<\/a> which are produced by <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>. Besides the locations of the Base Stations in your network, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> now shows the real time position of connected rovers (the <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-what-is-an-ntrip-client\/\">NTRIP Clients<\/a>) based on their NMEA-183 sentences. At this writing, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> is now being used in over one hundred countries to operate NTRIP Caster networks.<\/p>\n<p>The primary improvements made from the prior release are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All editions of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>now support plotting and tracking Data Streams from Base Stations, <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/nearest-mountpt-use\/\">NEAR<\/a> regions, and the connected client devices <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>AS THEY MOVE<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0 This allows using <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> as a casual AVL system for those clients which send <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/nmea-gga-strings-in-ntrip-clients\/\">NMEA-183 $GPGGA<\/a> information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/SimpleAVLtraceCropped.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3239 size-full\" src=\"\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/SimpleAVLtraceCropped.png\" alt=\"SimpleAVLtraceCropped\" width=\"1178\" height=\"490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/SimpleAVLtraceCropped.png 1178w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/SimpleAVLtraceCropped-300x125.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/SimpleAVLtraceCropped-768x319.png 768w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/SimpleAVLtraceCropped-1024x426.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/SimpleAVLtraceCropped-50x21.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/SimpleAVLtraceCropped-920x383.png 920w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/SimpleAVLtraceCropped-600x250.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/SimpleAVLtraceCropped-320x133.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1178px) 100vw, 1178px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The three types of information (<em>Casters<\/em>, <em>Clients<\/em> and <em>Near<\/em> Regions) that are plotted can be controlled with check boxes the newly created marker legend seen in the above image.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Movement traces for NTRIP client device motion (the rovers) are displayed\/shown for the duration of the map dialog, regardless of the current zoom and pan settings. [Here an <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/nearest-mountpt-use-case-examples\/\">SCSC<\/a> staffer ran to lunch and back, by way of a well known burger drive-through]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>These map displays can be started from various control dialogs in <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> including:\n<ul>\n<li>The main window (menu<em><strong> Map View..<\/strong><\/em> under Control) to display all Users and Base Stations as well as all NEAR regions.<\/li>\n<li>Any <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-relay-streams-tab\/\">Remote-Relay<\/a> setup dialog (the <em><strong>View Map&#8230;<\/strong><\/em> button).\u00a0 This is useful for displaying the mount points which are offered by another Caster.<\/li>\n<li>Right Click and select <em><strong>View Map<\/strong><\/em> on any <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/nearest-streams-tab\/\">Nearest stream<\/a> slot to see the Base Stations which are are part of that pool, and the enclosing radius .<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Further improvements were added to the details in the <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/editing-caster-entries\/\">Caster Table Entries<\/a> dialog.\u00a0 This dialog is used to to set up the Caster table string details for a data stream.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CasterTableDialog_r150-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CasterTableDialog_r150-1-245x300.png 245w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CasterTableDialog_r150-1-41x50.png 41w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/CasterTableDialog_r150-1-320x392.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 272px) 100vw, 272px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The dialog has been improved so the user can now:\n<ul>\n<li>Set the &#8220;Carriers&#8221;\u00a0 count (0,1,2,3) to allow correct data for L3\/L5 signals<\/li>\n<li>Set the &#8220;Request NMEA&#8221; to set flags on a per-stream basis (the global override switch also remains, found in the User Preferences menu section).<\/li>\n<li>Set the &#8220;solution type&#8221; as Network \/ Single Base flag which can be used when required (some NTRIP Clients require this flag to be set in order for them to send $GGA sentences more often).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The Caster table dialog has been reworked to support all six GNSS types shown with a series of check boxes rather than the former drop down combo list.<\/li>\n<li>The existing logic to parse each data stream and automatically set many of the Caster Entry details has also been modified to use these new settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Besides the release of these new feature, several other important improvements were added in this release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A new button <em><strong>Lists Recent IPs&#8230;<\/strong><\/em> (on the Caster and Clients tab) provides a report summarizing the IP addresses (and what user account was used if <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> access is not set to allow Anonymous use) which have connected to <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> since it was started.\u00a0 This provides a simple and direct way to see what IP connections have occurred, and who is connecting the most often.\u00a0 It complements the existing <strong><em>List Current Users&#8230;<\/em><\/strong> button which provides a more <em>user account-centric<\/em> summary of connections.<\/li>\n<li>The distance between each NTRIP Client and the Base Station they are connected to is now shown in various reports with a precision of <strong>\u00b11cm<\/strong>.\u00a0 Additional precision was requested by operators whose clients send back high precision LLH data in their NMEA sentences.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/span>: Most NMEA GGA sentences do not convey sufficient bits to support this level of detail.<\/li>\n<li>An error in saving the user&#8217;s check box settings between runs in the <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-pushed-out-streams-tab-output-data\/\">Pushed-Out tab<\/a> controls has been corrected.<\/li>\n<li>Several spelling errors in various report text were corrected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> team is very grateful to the feedback our growing user community provides to us.\u00a0 The primary feature targeted for the next release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> will likely be additional provisions for pre-NTRIP legacy devices (GNSS devices typically more than ten years old) to connect to <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> using direct TCP\/IP means.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a
