{"id":3311,"date":"2017-03-29T00:30:48","date_gmt":"2017-03-29T00:30:48","guid":{"rendered":"\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=3311"},"modified":"2020-06-11T17:19:44","modified_gmt":"2020-06-11T17:19:44","slug":"release-1_6_0-changes","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/release-1_6_0-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Release 1_06_0 Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is new in the<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> SNIP<\/span> 1_6_0 release<\/strong>\u00a0 [released March 29th 2017]<\/p>\n<p>This is the next release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> following the Rev 1_5_0 release of last month (March 3rd) with major new functionality added to support older pre-NTRIP GNSS Base stations.\u00a0 Provisions have now been added to allow managing direct TCP\/IP connections from such devices to the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> Caster.\u00a0 This feature may also be of value if your GNSS vendor only provides <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-what-is-an-ntrip-server\/\">NTRIP Server<\/a> functionality as an additional paid option on your device.\u00a0 A new tab called <strong>RAW TCP\/IP<\/strong> has been added to manage these connection types. The previous <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-pushed-streams-tab\/\"><strong>PUSH-In<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-pushed-out-streams-tab-output-data\/\"><strong>PUSH-Out<\/strong><\/a> tabs are still used for <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/federating-data-streams\/\">federating<\/a> networks of GNSS Base stations which do speak the NTRIP protocol.<\/p>\n<p>This release is recommended for all users and is now the primary download. At this writing, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> is now being used in over one hundred countries to operate NTRIP Caster networks.<\/p>\n<p>The primary improvements made from the prior release are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All paid editions of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>now support multiple RAW TCP\/IP streams from remote Base Stations. There is no limit imposed on the number of <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/raw-tcpip-streams-tab\/\"><strong>RAW TCP\/IP<\/strong><\/a> streams <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>can run (other than the overall license limit). This feature can be used during the evaluation process but is not available in the <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em><strong>Lite<\/strong> <\/em><\/span>edition of SNIP.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Raw-Running.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3325 size-full\" src=\"\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Raw-Running.png\" alt=\"Raw-Running\" width=\"866\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Raw-Running.png 866w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Raw-Running-300x104.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Raw-Running-768x266.png 768w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Raw-Running-50x17.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Raw-Running-600x208.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Raw-Running-320x111.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 866px) 100vw, 866px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>RAW TCP\/IP<\/strong> streams all reside in a new tab.\u00a0 This type of stream is created up by way of a new dialog where a specific IP value and port to be used when connecting to your <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> Caster are entered.\u00a0 As a RAW TCP\/IP stream does not provide the traditional Caster Table entry, the <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/editing-caster-entries\/\">Caster Table dialog<\/a> may used to enter this data.\u00a0 And of course <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>&#8216;s unique auto-set functions can parse over the RTCM data streams and set the Caster Table values for you.\u00a0 As with other data streams, these features may be set up for each slot and are remembered each time <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> runs thereafter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The way in which <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>&#8216;s in-line<a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/how-to-register-snip\/\"> registration process<\/a> works was revised to first contact our license servers to get a secure &#8220;test&#8221; page downloaded before the formal registration process began.\u00a0 Some additional error messages at the lower layer are now also reported if a connection failure occurs.\u00a0 This change was made to address connectivity problems that some users have reported when registering the Lite edition of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 The most common registration issue encountered at this time is that a few Windows 10 users are <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-how-do-i-install-ssl-for-the-license-registration-proecess\/\">unable to start secure socket web page<\/a> from <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> due to various firewalls. They parties have the register their SSL drivers directly as described <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-how-do-i-install-ssl-for-the-license-registration-proecess\/\">here<\/a>.\u00a0 [<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> uses industry standard SSL connections for registration, but some machines block connections from any application they do not recognize]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other improvements were also added in this release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A long-running issue with European cellular re-connection events in some NTRIP Servers connecting to <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> is now believed to be solved.\u00a0 A few users have reported that the the same GNSS Base Station would lose connection for tens of seconds and then reconnect with its mountPt renamed XXX_02\u00a0\u00a0 (where _02 was <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> auto-naming being invoked to avoid a duplicate). The root cause of this is believed be cellular dropouts combined with messages backing up on the sending TCP\/IP link layer when the connection went down.\u00a0 On rare occasions this has also been observed on wired connections as well.<\/li>\n<li>The DLL modules which perform the web page SSL functions in <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> have been updated to the current release.<\/li>\n<li>Improvements were made to the GNSS network detection logic to support <strong>BeiDou<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>QZSS<\/strong> and <strong>Galileo<\/strong> <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/supported-caster-data-formats\/\">types<\/a>, and an error present in the last release was corrected in the Caster <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/editing-caster-entries\/\">Table Entry dialog<\/a> logic where an extra &#8220;+&#8221; was used whenever no GPS type was used.<\/li>\n<li>Further English usage and grammar issues have been corrected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> development team is very grateful for the feedback our user community provides to us.\u00a0 Your requests and suggestions drive our product development road map.\u00a0 Keep sending them to us!\u00a0 One of the primary features targeted for the next release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> is further automating the product update process so your user and your server node are off-line only for a minute or two when you do routine upgrades.\u00a0 Some users have already asked us to develop a similar &#8220;RAW&#8221;
