{"id":4449,"date":"2017-12-21T23:56:02","date_gmt":"2017-12-21T23:56:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=4449"},"modified":"2020-06-11T17:17:39","modified_gmt":"2020-06-11T17:17:39","slug":"release-1_12_0-changes","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/release-1_12_0-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Release 1_12_0 Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is new in the<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> SNIP<\/span> 1_12_0 release<\/strong>\u00a0 [released December 21st 2017]<br \/>\nIncludes the<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> SNIP<\/span> 1_12_1 release<\/strong>\u00a0 with full support for 32 \/64 bit restored\u00a0 [released January 5th 2018]<\/p>\n<p>This is the next release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> following the Rev 1_10_0 release on July 12th. This is the final release of the Rev 1.x road-map.\u00a0 It contains a peek at a number of early features for Rev 2.x\u00a0 This release has more than the normal level of new functionality added to it.\u00a0 A partial list is below; further details can also be found in the last <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/sdm_downloads\/snip-1-11-9-beta-release-for-windows\/\">Beta release<\/a> pages.<\/p>\n<p>It is recommended that all Windows 64-bit <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> installations now update to using this release.<br \/>\nDo not use this release if you are only able to run a 32-bit copy of Windows.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>Release 1_12_1 restores the support for both 32-bit and 64-bit installations.\u00a0 Several users requested we continue support for 32-bit builds, which we will continue henceforth.\u00a0 Visible changes in the _1 release are otherwise minimal although further rev 2.x functionally is under the hood.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Major new features include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>features a major revamp of the underlying code base to support more richly formatted <em>html<\/em> style reports.\u00a0 You will quickly see this with the increased use of simple highlighting in the various console logs and report layouts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4459\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/ConsoleColorExample.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"759\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/ConsoleColorExample.png 759w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/ConsoleColorExample-300x63.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/ConsoleColorExample-50x11.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/ConsoleColorExample-600x126.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/ConsoleColorExample-320x67.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 759px) 100vw, 759px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New logic controls how the console scrolls to keep the most important information visible on the screen and not lost in the trivia and clutter that comes with having a very active Caster.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>Pro<\/strong> <\/em><\/span>users with many active connections will appreciate these features.\u00a0 A helpful <strong>Pause<\/strong> button allows quick control over real-time scrolling while not losing messages for later viewing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4458\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/PauseButtonControls.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"401\" height=\"60\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/PauseButtonControls.png 401w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/PauseButtonControls-300x45.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/PauseButtonControls-50x7.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/PauseButtonControls-320x48.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 401px) 100vw, 401px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Extensive <em>tool tips<\/em> now provide key information about each Base Station by simply hovering the mouse over each stream.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4414\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/SNIP_quatercycleToolTip.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"795\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/SNIP_quatercycleToolTip.png 795w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/SNIP_quatercycleToolTip-300x121.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/SNIP_quatercycleToolTip-768x310.png 768w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/SNIP_quatercycleToolTip-50x20.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/SNIP_quatercycleToolTip-600x242.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/SNIP_quatercycleToolTip-320x129.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 795px) 100vw, 795px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/banning-abusive-users-editing\/\">IP Ban Control<\/a> functionality introduced in Rev 1_10 has been expanded to also allow banning those users who constantly request Caster Tables without ever making a connection.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> also implements a new <em>SNIP-2-SNIP assistance logic<\/em> system now. Many of our users employ multiple copies of the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>Lite<\/strong><\/em><\/span> at remote locations to feed data to their licensed copy of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 When a connection between these devices fails for some reason, the <em>SNIP-2-SNIP assistance logic<\/em> is used to send more useful advice to the operator of the remote unit regarding the nature of the error and how to correct it.\u00a0 Of course the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> operator can control this feature with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-preferences-dialog\/\">Preferences dialog<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A simple web reporting <em>current status<\/em> ability has also been added (more to come in Rev 2.x). If a user requests the mountPt &#8220;<strong>SNIP::STATUS<\/strong>&#8221; with a browser ( as in <a href=\"http:\/\/rtk2go.com:2101\/SNIP::STATUS\">http:\/\/rtk2go.com:2101\/SNIP::STATUS<\/a> ) they are returned an <em>html<\/em> style report.\u00a0 Extensive controls in Rev 2.x will allow the operator to preserve privacy &amp; security while selecting what item in a basic command set to enable.\u00a0 End users can retrieve useful data about streams and status when this feature is enabled.\u00a0 And this can be disabled with <strong>Show Main Status<\/strong> check box in <em>Web Pages<\/em> section of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-preferences-dialog\/\">Preferences Dialog<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A revised menu system for each <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/stream-types\/\">Stream Type<\/a> has been added, and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-stream-menu-controls\/\">described further here<\/a>.\u00a0 With several new Rev 2 features, this provides a more focused way to interact with each data stream.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4218\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Menu_wPFAT.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"316\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Menu_wPFAT.png 316w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Menu_wPFAT-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Menu_wPFAT-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Menu_wPFAT-50x50.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Menu_wPFAT-60x60.png 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 316px) 100vw, 316px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The menu system above displays the term &#8220;<strong>P.F.A.T.<\/strong>&#8221; which is a major advancement in the way NTRIP Casters operate, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/introducing-pfat\/\">read more about it here<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/pfat-parse-settings\/\">Parse menu<\/a> has been moved under that menu and some more advanced auto message detection logic has been added to the initial message analysis process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many of the above features serve to reveal the three major goals for our <strong>Rev 2<\/strong> road-map.\u00a0 The first of these is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/introducing-pfat\/\"><strong>PFAT<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 The second of these is more diverse and versatile usage reporting with over 2 dozen new reports now in development.\u00a0 And the third is the ability to have an <em>interactive protocol<\/em> between the end NTRIP Client user and the Caster (within the limits set by the owner\/operator of course).\u00a0 The html report above is the first step in that.\u00a0 With this, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> becomes more than a <em>simple NTRIP Caster<\/em>, it&#8217;s a <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>S<\/strong><\/span>imple <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>N<\/strong><\/span>TRIP Caster with an <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>I<\/strong><\/span>nteractive <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>P<\/strong><\/span>rotocol.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Please tell us how you use <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> and how we can make it better.<br \/>\nFeel free to use the free text areas in this survey to tell us anything else you think we should know.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/quiz\/postdownload\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Please help with this feedback survey<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>For Ubuntu 64b:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Release is pending.\u00a0 <\/strong>The Ubuntu 1.12.0 release is still being finalized at this time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Revision 2.x Cost Increase<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>With the release of the 2.x edition in late January these will be an across the board 30% increase in <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> pricing.\u00a0 If you are a current <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> user with a paid license (<span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>Basic<\/strong><\/em><\/span>, <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong><em>Pro<\/em> <\/strong><\/span>or <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>Enterprise<\/strong><\/em><\/span>) the only affect this will have on you is when obtaining additional slot licenses.\u00a0 Unlike other Caster products, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> does not charge any annual maintenance or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-snip-yearly-fees\/\">renewal fee<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is new in the SNIP 1_12_0 release\u00a0 [released December 21st 2017] Includes the SNIP 1_12_1 release\u00a0 with full support for 32 \/64 bit restored\u00a0 [released January 5th 2018] This is the next release of SNIP following the Rev 1_10_0 release on July 12th.
