{"id":519,"date":"2016-03-04T23:20:47","date_gmt":"2016-03-04T23:20:47","guid":{"rendered":"\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=519"},"modified":"2019-10-09T18:43:48","modified_gmt":"2019-10-09T18:43:48","slug":"managing-the-caster","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/managing-the-caster\/","title":{"rendered":"Managing the Caster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Caster Management (located under the <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-caster-and-clients-tab\/\">Caster and Clients tab<\/a> on the right side) is used to control the internet IP address at which your <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> C<\/span>aster will provide services.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3910 size-full alignright\" src=\"\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/CasterSideTab.png\" width=\"346\" height=\"376\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/CasterSideTab.png 346w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/CasterSideTab-276x300.png 276w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/CasterSideTab-46x50.png 46w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/CasterSideTab-320x348.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 346px) 100vw, 346px\" \/>Setting the values involves only a few steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Enter the Caster IP to use.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the Port number to use<br \/>\n(2101 is the default for NTRIP)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>And then press the <strong>Connect<\/strong> button. The label will toggle between <em>Connect<\/em> and <em>Disconnect<\/em> based on the current Caster state. The data entry controls are greyed out when the Caster is connected.<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to have the process automatically repeated each time <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>starts, check the <strong>Auto Start<\/strong> box. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>will save this and many other settings, restoring your settings when the application next runs.<\/p>\n<p>You can also see a quick list of all the current mount points which <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>is serving by pressing the <strong>List MountPts<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<h4>Details:<\/h4>\n<p>You enter the IP you with to use. When <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>starts it will list the current IP addresses which it finds, choose of one these, preferably an IP which you user community can access.\u00a0 This need not be static if you are operating in a smaller closed network.\u00a0 If you wish other parties on the internet to access your <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>node, you will need either a static IP or can use one the many dynamic DNS solutions to publish your dynamic IP assignment to others.<\/p>\n<p>If you are behind a firewall you may have to employ a method of port forwarding to expose the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>port to others.<\/p>\n<h4>Controls<\/h4>\n<p>The <strong>Disconnect<\/strong> button enables \/ disables the Caster. When disabled no clients can connect and receive data.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Auto Start<\/strong> check box is used to control if SNIP will automatically startup in an active mode, it is usually checked.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Table<\/strong> button sends the current Caster Table to the console for viewing.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>MountPt<\/strong> button provides a summary to the console for every mountPt and data stream <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/stream-types\/\">type<\/a> you have created.<\/p>\n<h4>Alternatives:<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rtk2go.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2249 size-full\" src=\"\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/RTK2go100x168.png\" alt=\"rtk2go100x168\" width=\"168\" height=\"83\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/RTK2go100x168.png 168w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/RTK2go100x168-50x25.png 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 168px) 100vw, 168px\" \/><\/a>Some people prefer to use another <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> node located at a static public IP, and use a copy of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> to <a href=\"\/kb\/knowledge-base\/sending-pushed-out-data\/\">PUSH-Out<\/a> data to it for public use. It is fairly common for a network to run multiple copies of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>, using multiple free <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em><strong>Lite<\/strong><\/em><\/span> copies to send data from remote GNSS sites to a &#8220;main&#8221; <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> node with a suitably sized license.<\/p>\n<p>Other deployments use our free<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rtk2go.com\/\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em><strong> RTK2go.com<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> service to publish their data to others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Caster Management (located under the Caster and Clients tab on the right side) is used to control the internet IP address at which your SNIP Caster will provide services.
