{"id":5272,"date":"2018-04-20T23:05:25","date_gmt":"2018-04-20T23:05:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=5272"},"modified":"2019-06-25T15:26:44","modified_gmt":"2019-06-25T15:26:44","slug":"release-2_02_00-changes","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/release-2_02_00-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Release 2_02_00 Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is new in the<strong> SNIP 2_02_00 release<\/strong>\u00a0 [released April 24th 2018]<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is the next release of <strong>SNIP<\/strong> following the Rev 2_01_00 release of March 30th.\u00a0 It is a routine service release.<\/p>\n<p>It contains a number of improvements stemming from user feedback on the 2_01 release.\u00a0 This release supports for both 32-bit and 64-bit installations in Windows.\u00a0 It is recommended that all Windows 32\/64 <strong>SNIP<\/strong> installations now update to using this release.\u00a0 A similar 64-bit Ubuntu release with identical features is still pending, resolving some issues with correctly displaying PNG images.<\/p>\n<h3>Notable changes in the release include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Support for NTRIP rev2.x client connections has been added to <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 In theory, all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-what-is-an-ntrip-client\/\">NTRIP Clients<\/a> are required to <em>fall-back<\/em> to the rev1.x which &gt;99% of the market uses.\u00a0 However, some clients do not.\u00a0 This change adds support for those devices which did not implement <em>a fall-back<\/em> to a rev1.x style.[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>More support for<em> ill-formed<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/subtle-issues-with-using-ntrip-client-nmea-183-strings\/\">NMEA-183<\/a> sentences has been added.\u00a0 Many NTRIP Clients do not produce well-formed protocol connections at all times.\u00a0 A common problem involves the incorrect sending of NMEA-183 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/nmea-gga-strings-in-ntrip-clients\/\">$GGA<\/a> sentences, both when they are sent and how they are formed. \u00a0 A new check box (called <em><strong>Loose NMEA $GGA<\/strong><\/em>) found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-caster-and-clients-tab\/\"><em>Caster and Clients tab<\/em><\/a> instructs <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>to be less strict in how such <em>ill-formed<\/em> content is treated when sent by clients.[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/snipLooseNMEAimage.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"316\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/snipLooseNMEAimage.png 316w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/snipLooseNMEAimage-300x156.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/snipLooseNMEAimage-50x26.png 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 316px) 100vw, 316px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>And a second new check box provides a means to display the raw client data when needed for debugging.\u00a0 Unlike the <strong><em>Show Connection Details<\/em><\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/debugging-client-connections\/\">check box<\/a> on the same tab, this will allow enabling a view of the Client raw data at any time.[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>A simply summary of the details for each base station is now part of the links provided with the stock <strong>\/SNIP::STATUS<\/strong> web page request.\u00a0 This came from a user request for remotely viewing more data about a single mountPt.\u00a0 The geographical location of the Base Station can also be plotted on this page or from the main page as before. The <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> operator can disable these functions when not wanted in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-preferences-dialog\/\">preferences<\/a> dialog.\u00a0 We leave this feature enabled on the <a href=\"http:\/\/RTK2go.com\">RTK2go.com<\/a> site, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rtk2go.com:2101\/SNIP::STATUS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a> is real time an example. [spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>Minor logic changes were made to reduce the number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/nearest-streams-tab\/\">NEAR pool<\/a> stream members placed in the &#8220;Not yet sorted&#8221; pool.\u00a0 Those streams that could <em>never<\/em> be part of the current pool are now placed into the &#8220;Not Used&#8221; pool.\u00a0 This has no effect on how the active pool operates, or on the NEAR members, or on your system&#8217;s current <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> NEAR settings.\u00a0 It is simply a GUI detail requested by some users. [spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/data-stream-special-features\/\">weekly connection<\/a> summary charts used for each base station now includes similar details for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/raw-tcpip-streams-tab\/\">RAW TCP\/IP<\/a> data stream types as well, another user request. \u00a0 The raw streams are listed in the format:\u00a0 mountPt (RAW:xxxx) where <em>xxxx<\/em> is the port number that was used.[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>More aggressive IP banning logic has been added when a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/banning-abusive-users-simple\/\"> banned IP<\/a> tries to connect to <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 The banned IP is now disconnected the moment the socket is enabled, with some small saving in processing.[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>New stream connections now default to the raw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/saving-data-into-log-files\/\">file logging<\/a> set to be off (unless it is enabled on a tab, such as the PUSH-In stream tab).[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>A math error in the way that data sent to the collection of currently connected users was counted between parsed and non-parsed data streams has been corrected.\u00a0 This could be seen in the values displayed for connected users in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/pfat-main-dialog\/\">PFAT summary<\/a> dialog.[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>An error in saving the &#8216;hidden&#8217; caster entry setting for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-serial-streams-tab\/\">serial data streams<\/a> has been corrected.\u00a0 This affected some users who created or edited the setup commands in a serial port, resulting in the file with the setup commands not being reloaded the next time <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong> <\/span>was run.[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>Minor corrections to the English used were also made.[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Outstanding issues known at this time:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Qt &#8220;Web Engine&#8221; now used in <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> Rev 2.xx remains less responsive then before as mentioned in the last release.\u00a0 This is a core issue is with Qt 5.9.x &#8211; the environment used to develop <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 In this release we have added some additional call-back functions as the page loads for large networks to address this, but are not at all happy with it at this time.\u00a0 On the first run of any maps a small image is now loaded from our servers to flush out issues with the startup phase. You will see <em>loading &#8230;<\/em>\u00a0 messages in the status bar from this.
