{"id":5352,"date":"2018-06-06T21:35:51","date_gmt":"2018-06-06T21:35:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=5352"},"modified":"2021-02-07T18:18:21","modified_gmt":"2021-02-07T18:18:21","slug":"the-document-viewer","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-document-viewer\/","title":{"rendered":"The Document Viewer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>Document Viewer<\/strong> window is used to display<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Large reports,<\/li>\n<li>Images, <em>and <\/em><\/li>\n<li>Geographical maps of casters and user.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It replaces the system used in Rev 1.0 of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> where all report style information was always placed into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/console-logging\/\">console log<\/a>.\u00a0 An exception was the display of small maps in their own window.<\/p>\n<p>Because of the extensive hyperlink support, many of the common status monitor needs of the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> operator can be handled from within this window.\u00a0 For example, one can easily click links between the general status of all the Base Stations, to specific Rovers (users) or specific connected IP addresses (bases and rovers).<\/p>\n<p>When <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> is started, this window is created, and (like the main <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> window) it retains the position and size you set for it.\u00a0 It is never destroyed, but simply hidden (individual tabs can be destroyed).\u00a0 As a best practice, expand the window to a suitable size for your own preferences. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> will bring it to the foreground when required.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerImage.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-5406\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerImage.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"425\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerImage.png 850w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerImage-300x261.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerImage-768x669.png 768w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerImage-50x44.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerImage-600x522.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerImage-320x279.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Document Viewer window is modeled as a browser, and in fact is build on the <a id=\"fprsl\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?safe=off&amp;client=firefox-b-1&amp;q=chromium+engine&amp;spell=1&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjqy_WU7sTbAhVAHjQIHWzdA0sQkeECCCYoAA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ved=\"0ahUKEwjqy_WU7sTbAhVAHjQIHWzdA0sQkeECCCYoAA\">chromium engine<\/a> which is used by Qt as the default. Each tab lives in its own memory and threading model so the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> real time response remains isolated from it.<\/p>\n<p>The initial start page \/tab is used as a simple news channel to inform the operators regarding new developments and releases of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 When the user has run <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> less than 25 times, some additional <em>quick start<\/em> pages are also shown to assist the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/new-installation-set-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new operator<\/a> to help with initial setup questions.<\/p>\n<p>At the top of the window you will see a dock-able tool bar with several additional small buttons.\u00a0 These represent the most common report types.\u00a0 Pressing each will create a report of that type in its own tab.\u00a0 If such a report is open, it will switch to that tab and refresh it with the most current data.\u00a0 Various reports can also be requested from the <strong><em>Reports<\/em> <\/strong>menu on the main window.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5409\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerTooltip.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"97\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerTooltip.png 365w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerTooltip-300x80.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerTooltip-50x13.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/DocViewerTooltip-320x85.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 365px) 100vw, 365px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <em>back<\/em>, <em>forward<\/em>, and <em>reload<\/em> buttons work as one would expect with any browser.\u00a0 A summary of the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> unique buttons (outlined in red above) follows.\u00a0 [Not shown; <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Rev3<\/strong><\/span> editions of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> also added a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/printing-reports-and-charts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Print<\/strong><\/a> and and an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/sending-email-from-snip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>eMail<\/strong><\/a> button to the above tool bar.\u00a0 This allows you to send a report to others.]<\/p>\n<h3>The <strong>Status<\/strong> Button<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/status-button-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This button<\/a> provides a general summary of the Caster state.\u00a0 It lists both the current and past MountPts (data streams) as well as several other key values about the state of operations.\u00a0 Additional buttons in the report provide links to further details.<\/p>\n<p>This report can also be obtained as a web page by any remote user by requesting the mountPt &#8220;SNIP::STATUS&#8221; &#8211; if the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> operator has enabled the check box marked: <strong>Show Main Status Page<\/strong> in the preferences dialog (accessed from the menu: Edit -&gt; Preferences).<\/p>\n<h3>The <strong>Streams<\/strong> Report<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/streams-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This button<\/a> provides a summary of all the mountPts found on the Caster.\u00a0 It augments the <em><strong>List MountPts<\/strong><\/em> button found on several of the tabs, but places the report into a tab in the Document Viewer window, not the console.<\/p>\n<h3>The <strong>Clients\u00a0<\/strong>Report<\/h3>\n<p>This button provides a summary of the Clients connected the Caster.<\/p>\n<h3>The <strong>NEAR <\/strong>Report<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/near-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This button<\/a> provides a summary of the current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/nearest-streams-tab\/\">NEAR streams<\/a> including their pool members and the clients which are connected to them.<\/p>\n<h3>The <strong>IPs <\/strong>Report<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/ip-address-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This button<\/a> provides a summary of the different IP addresses that have been used to access your Caster.\u00a0 The mountPt request and the connection times are also shown, as well as the NTRIP Agent.\u00a0 If more than one Agent is used, each is listed.\u00a0 Summaries of any NMEA $GGA sentences are also shown as well as the last reported position.\u00a0 A Geographic Reverse IP look-up report is also provided.<\/p>\n<h3>The <strong>Map <\/strong>Report<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/map-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">This button<\/a> provides a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/support-for-basic-mapping\/\">general map<\/a> showing the location of all Base Stations (all stream types) and all Clients (NTRIP Clients or <em>rovers<\/em>), as well as other details.<\/p>\n<h3>The <strong>Process <\/strong>Report<\/h3>\n<p>This button provides a snapshot summary of the resources (memory allocations, disk space, MIPs) used by <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> on the Host machine. It is of general value when testing or debugging to ensure that <strong>SNIP<\/strong> is able to get machine resources without delays.\u00a0 [This report was added in Revision 2.13.00]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Document Viewer window is used to display Large reports, Images, and Geographical maps of casters and user.
