{"id":6775,"date":"2019-11-21T00:02:29","date_gmt":"2019-11-21T00:02:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=6775"},"modified":"2024-08-14T21:55:29","modified_gmt":"2024-08-14T21:55:29","slug":"near-settings-using-base-station-lists","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/near-settings-using-base-station-lists\/","title":{"rendered":"NEAR settings, Using Base Station Lists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When creating a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/nearest-streams-tab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>NEAR<\/strong> stream<\/a>, the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> operator can create a specific list of which Base Stations are to be considered for each given NEAR&#x2122; stream.\u00a0 This article describes how to set up a list of possible Base Stations to be used in the stream.\u00a0 The Base Stations on the list are still tested for all the other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/nearest-mountpt-dialog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">parameters<\/a> you set in the dialog as well.\u00a0 Any Base Stations not on the list will be excluded, even if they meet all the other parameters needed to join the NEAR pool.<\/p>\n<h3>Use<\/h3>\n<p>This feature has value when creating two or more NEAR streams with overlapping regions and similar message content.<\/p>\n<p>Use this feature when setting up a NEAR stream with <strong>only<\/strong> MSM message content alongside another NEAR stream with <strong>only<\/strong> Legacy message content (this is desirable to support older GNSS rovers).<\/p>\n<p>Use this feature when running your Base Stations aligned with multiple reference datums.\u00a0 Simply place the data streams with a common datum into the same NEAR stream. Your users then connect to the NEAR pool supporting the reference datum they require. \u00a0 [<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><em><strong>Hint<\/strong><\/em><\/span>: translating the datum of a Base Station with <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>s <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>PFAT<\/strong><\/em><\/span> tools is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/pfat-adjusting-datum-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">discussed here<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong><\/span>: New datums are coming to most countries in the next 2 years,\u00a0 in the US this will occur in 2025 (moved back from 2022).\u00a0 For the next decade or more, many RTK systems will need to support their NTRIP Client devices in two of more spatial reference frames.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> supports this today with various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/introducing-pfat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>PFAT<\/strong><\/span><\/a>&#x2122; Base Station <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/pfat-adjusting-datum-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">translation<\/a> and\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/pfat-adjusting-base-station-common-reference-frame\/\">ECEF adjustment<\/a> abilities.\u00a0 Most countries now have web resource explaining their plans to change over.\u00a0 In the US you can read about it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ngs.noaa.gov\/datums\/newdatums\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Setup<\/h3>\n<p>This feature can be enabled by checking the <strong>Use Only Listed Base Stations in Pool<\/strong> checkbox and then pressing <em><strong>Edit List &#8230;<\/strong> <\/em>to edit the list.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6772\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/NEAR_StationLists.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"485\" height=\"662\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/NEAR_StationLists.png 485w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/NEAR_StationLists-220x300.png 220w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/NEAR_StationLists-37x50.png 37w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/NEAR_StationLists-320x437.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A dialog to edit the list is then presented and completed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6771\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/AddNearStationDialog.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"658\" height=\"329\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/AddNearStationDialog.png 658w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/AddNearStationDialog-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/AddNearStationDialog-50x25.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/AddNearStationDialog-600x300.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/AddNearStationDialog-320x160.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 658px) 100vw, 658px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Base Stations are added to the list using the combo drop down. The resulting list is then saved. When the parent dialog is saved, the members of the NEAR pool are recalculated.<\/p>\n<h3>Controls<\/h3>\n<h4>Use Checkbox<\/h4>\n<p>The Checkbox enables or disables this feature.\u00a0 When disabled, the last list is kept as a starting point for any new list. When enabled and no list is present, a warning is given and the checkbox is set to disabled.<\/p>\n<h4>Combo Box<\/h4>\n<p>The primary way to add active Base Stations is by selecting their mountPt name in the Base Station combo box.\u00a0 A tool-tip system in the drop down list provides additional details about each stream to assist in selecting the correct items.\u00a0 As each new Base Station is added, then it appears in the table below along with key details about its content.\u00a0 Base Stations that are actively part of the used pool are shown with a check mark in the <em>Used<\/em> column.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6789\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/tooltipForNearStationCombo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"674\" height=\"343\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/tooltipForNearStationCombo.png 674w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/tooltipForNearStationCombo-300x153.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/tooltipForNearStationCombo-50x25.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/tooltipForNearStationCombo-600x305.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/tooltipForNearStationCombo-320x163.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 674px) 100vw, 674px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Add Station Button<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6786 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/AddNearStationTextDialog.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"314\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/AddNearStationTextDialog.png 314w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/AddNearStationTextDialog-300x191.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/AddNearStationTextDialog-50x32.png 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 314px) 100vw, 314px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This button is used to add the the name of a Base Station (its mountPt) which is not present at the time.\u00a0 A dialog allows the user to enter a suitable text string.\u00a0 Other than ensuring the string is well formed for a mountPt (various characters are not allowed), there is no further checking to confirm spelling or capitalization is correct &#8211; so caution should be used.<\/p>\n<h4>Remove All Button<\/h4>\n<p>This button is used to reset the string list to an empty state.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Useful Tip:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 You can also just <em>right-click<\/em> on any entry to remove only that entry from the list.<\/p>\n<h4>Reset Button<\/h4>\n<p>This button is used to undo any changes to the string list, restoring it to the original state before the dialog was opened.<\/p>\n<p>And pressing the green &#8220;i&#8221;
