{"id":7113,"date":"2020-08-07T14:53:37","date_gmt":"2020-08-07T14:53:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=7113"},"modified":"2020-08-08T17:05:47","modified_gmt":"2020-08-08T17:05:47","slug":"ip-most-used-report","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/ip-most-used-report\/","title":{"rendered":"IP Most-Used Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>IP Most-Used Report<\/strong> provides a current sorted list of which IPs have most frequently connected to your <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> Caster.\u00a0 It is used to quickly see which IPs are connecting most often (perhaps due to various connection problems that need to be dealt with).<\/p>\n<p>The report shows the source connection IP, the user name for the account, the MountPt name of the Base Station involved, and other key details. It is sorted from the most frequent to the least. It displays the first 80% of all connections. This threshold value has proven to provide sufficient summary data.\u00a0 [<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><em><strong>Hint<\/strong><\/em><\/span>: If you want to see EVERY connection that has occurred with EVERY IP, use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/ip-address-report\/\">IP Address Report<\/a>.]\u00a0 Some statistical information is also provided in the header.<\/p>\n<p>Connections from Base Stations that connect to the Caster using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-relay-streams-tab\/\">Remote-Relay<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-pushed-streams-tab\/\">PUSH_In<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/raw-tcpip-streams-tab\/\">Raw TCP\/IP<\/a> stream types can also appear in this list when the IP connection is unreliable and prone to frequent restarting.<\/p>\n<p>Clicking on the hyper link for any IP brings up a report of all the different connection that have occurred for that single IP as well the NTRIP agent(s) used, connection lengths etc.\u00a0 See <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/geographic-reverse-ip-look-up\/\">this article<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n<p>A typical report from a busy Caster is shown below (click to enlarge):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IPrptMostUsed-b.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7123 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IPrptMostUsed-b.png?_t=1596812670\" alt=\"\" width=\"1047\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IPrptMostUsed-b.png 1047w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IPrptMostUsed-b-300x215.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IPrptMostUsed-b-1024x734.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IPrptMostUsed-b-768x550.png 768w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IPrptMostUsed-b-50x36.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IPrptMostUsed-b-920x659.png 920w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IPrptMostUsed-b-600x430.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/IPrptMostUsed-b-320x229.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1047px) 100vw, 1047px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Examining this report further, one can see that the first two entries (from the same IP) constitute 5,220 bad connections\u00a0 (~10% of the machines overall connections).\u00a0 And as noted along the right side, that specific IP and several others have been blocked for various periods of time (the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/ip-ban-report\/\">IP Blocked Report<\/a> would provide further details for each).\u00a0 The vast majority of the other entries consist of NTRIP Client Devices that are either ill-configured or are seeking for a mountPt that is not present in the Caster when they requested it.
