This article describes how to setup the service on your Caster.<\/p>\n<p>Sending eMail is a convenient way to inform your users of various reports, graphs, and charts which you may wish to share with them.\u00a0 Whenever a user account (an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-what-is-an-ntrip-client\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NTRIP Client<\/a>), client account (a person or business) , or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/reserving-pushed-mountpoint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PUSH_In<\/a> Base Station reservation (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-what-is-an-ntrip-server\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NTRIP Server<\/a>) is created or changed; an automatic email can be sent to the other party (as well as a CC copy to whatever account you set up).\u00a0 You can also have eMail sent to SMS addresses (cellular phones) as well.<\/p>\n<p>Using the <strong>eMail Auto Reports<\/strong> menu item, periodic reports can also be scheduled to be created and sent to the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> operator or other parties.\u00a0 This provides an easy way to inform your users of their recent connections and usage.\u00a0 Sending eMail can also be set up to alert you when selected critical events occur (such as: Base Station X has gone offline) &#8211; a key ability for any NTRIP Caster running 24&#215;7.\u00a0 Adding to the varsity of such reports will be a key feature in the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> 2021development roadmap.\u00a0 A set of report templates will allow customization of the report to support operator&#8217;s branding needs.\u00a0 In the initial release of the eMail Plug-In (Jan 2021) the auto reports provided are limited, while all manually created reports are fully supported.<\/p>\n<h2>Setup Details<\/h2>\n<p>In order to use the eMail Services you must have an active eMail Services Plug-In operating on a <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>Pro<\/strong> <\/em><\/span>model of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>, see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/downloads\/email-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a> for further purchase details.\u00a0 Once you have purchased the Plug-In, you will receive two confirmation eMails.\u00a0\u00a0 The first will have the license key for the Plug-In, which you will enter to active your Plug-In\u00a0 (see the menu:\u00a0 Setup \u21d2 Manage Plug-Ins \u21d2 eMail Services).\u00a0 The second eMail will have the private eMail account details which you will enter in the dialog below.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7316\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/eMailSetupDialog.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/eMailSetupDialog.png 410w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/eMailSetupDialog-300x271.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/eMailSetupDialog-50x45.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/eMailSetupDialog-320x289.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Master eMail Connection Details<\/h3>\n<p>The master eMail connection details hold your user account and consists of three editable items:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The eMail <strong>Account<\/strong> you were given, in the format: snip_XXXXX@use-snip.net\u00a0 The value XXXXX is a set of digits which are unique to your eMail use.\u00a0 In practical fact your Caster now has an account within the use-snip.net domain.\u00a0 [Note *.net not *.com]\u00a0 As is discussed below, you can simply forward all reply mail to this account to whatever account you prefer (snip_XXXXX@ \u21d2 myMail@myCompany.com) using the WebMail control panel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The <strong>Password <\/strong>for that account, assigned when <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> support staff created the account.\u00a0 You can change this using the WebMail page, but be sure to update the value here as well.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The Human readable <strong>User Name<\/strong> you want associated with mail from this account.\u00a0 Typically this is the name of your Caster, or the Firm, or something generic like &#8220;NTRIP Support&#8221; are entered here.\u00a0 The first time you set up this dialog the &#8220;Operator Name&#8221; from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-preferences-dialog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Preferences dialog<\/a> will be entered here, but you can change it as you wish.\u00a0 You can also leave this field blank.<\/p>\n<p>Enter these three values into the dialog.<\/p>\n<p>Every time you send an eMail from <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>, a copy is also placed in the on-line user account for reference.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> sends all eMail using a SSL socket to port 465 on the remote SMTP machine (in other words very securely).\u00a0 In rare instances there may be a need to ensure that the firewall on the machine hosting <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> allows remote port 465 connections to occur.<\/p>\n<h3>Default CC Account<\/h3>\n<p>The CC account is used to automatically send a copy of any email to the eMail account you enter.\u00a0\u00a0 It is most typical to enter the operator or tech support email in these fields.\u00a0 When manually sending mail, a check box to CC to this address is presented each time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The <strong>eMail account<\/strong> you wish to send mail to, in any valid eMail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The Human readable <strong>User Name<\/strong> you want associated with this eMail (can be left blank).<\/p>\n<h3>Various Button Controls<\/h3>\n<p>The Setup dialog consists of the normal helpful tool-tips; hover over any control for a summary of its use. The use of the six button along the right side are summarized as follows.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Web Mail&#8230;<\/strong><br \/>\nLaunches the prefers Browser on the Host machine with the URL for the WebMail interface.\u00a0 The WebMail interface in discussed further below and is used to manage your email account.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Log<\/strong><br \/>\nProvides a recent summary of eMail sending logs, use for for resolving any sending problems,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Test Mail<\/strong><br \/>\nSends a simple test mail to the recipient you enter.\u00a0 Use this button to confirm that the eMail system is operating correctly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Reset<\/strong><br \/>\nResets the user editable fields in the dialog box to those last saved.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Cancel<\/strong><br \/>\nCancels the dialog box, without saving (no changes are made).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Save<\/strong><br \/>\nSaves the dialog box, if the values pass some basic validation.\u00a0 If the current values fail to pass, nothing is saved and the operator is presented with various error messages suggesting how to correct the problem.<\/p>\n<h3>Webmail Access<\/h3>\n<p>The Webmail access is a simple portal to access your snip_XXXXX@use-snip.net account directly. If you have set up your mail to forward a copy to an email you prefer, you may never need to access it.\u00a0 It provides the normal interface features found with most web mail systems. The image below (click to enlarge) shows an account where a SNIP::STATUS report had been sent as the last eMail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/snipWebmail.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7320\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/snipWebmail.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"658\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/snipWebmail.png 1315w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/snipWebmail-300x121.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/snipWebmail-1024x414.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/snipWebmail-768x311.png 768w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/snipWebmail-50x20.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/snipWebmail-920x372.png 920w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/snipWebmail-600x243.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/snipWebmail-320x129.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 658px) 100vw, 658px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Your web mail account provides a storage limit of 25GB for your sent mail.\u00a0 You can use this to recover eMails after the fact. [As a relative measure of use, if you were to send ~1000 eMails per week with various <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> reports, you would reach this limit in about 2 years.]\u00a0 If you ever reach 80% of this, an eMail notification will be sent.\u00a0 The default settings are set to delete any spam email after 7 days and to leave all other email.\u00a0 All inbound mail is set to be relayed to whatever eMail address you provide.\u00a0 Simple Calendar services and Chat services are also provided.
