{"id":797,"date":"2016-03-21T23:20:54","date_gmt":"2016-03-21T23:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=797"},"modified":"2018-06-27T12:03:33","modified_gmt":"2018-06-27T12:03:33","slug":"how-to-quickly-locate-your-own-reference-ant","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/how-to-quickly-locate-your-own-reference-ant\/","title":{"rendered":"How to locate your own reference ant."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is <em>fast and dirty<\/em> set of process steps to determine where a stationary reference station antenna (or any GNSS antenna for that matter) is placed.\u00a0 It requires several hours of raw observational data to be collected, and then sending your data set to 3rd parties to determine the position.\u00a0 This will result in a position accurate to within a centimeter or better.<\/p>\n<p>There are many sources that do a better job of explaining this process, how to select a suitable site, and the basics of good surveying practices. \u00a0 You will see a number of very good educational links to such information on the two post-processing sites below, please read them.<\/p>\n<h3>Collect the Data<\/h3>\n<p>Gather 4+ hours of data from the site.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right; padding-left: 60px;\">With <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> settings, simply log the raw data for the time period desired. Logging on a stream is enabled with a right-click mouse action on that stream.\u00a0 The collected file period defaults to 24 hours but can be set (as well as the file location where data is saved) using the <em><strong>Data File Settings<\/strong><\/em> menu, under <em><strong>Logs<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Convert the raw obs to RINEX, using RTKLIB tools or a similar tool.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right; padding-left: 60px;\">The data saved by <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> is in the same format that the data arrives on.\u00a0 Hence if your data stream is in RTCM3, that is what the raw data file will be in.\u00a0 Many tools can convert from RTCM3 (or from the GNSS proprietary data format) to RINEX which is used when processing your observations.
