{"id":8173,"date":"2022-06-01T18:56:33","date_gmt":"2022-06-01T18:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=8173"},"modified":"2022-06-14T19:06:32","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T19:06:32","slug":"the-major-events-windows","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-major-events-windows\/","title":{"rendered":"The Major Events Windows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Alongside the right side of the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> display are two resizable windows called the &#8220;Major Event Windows&#8221; &#8211; this article discusses the information they present.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">This is a feature available only in the <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong><em>Pro<\/em><\/strong><\/span> models of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of these two displays is to provide a summary of connection events for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-what-is-an-ntrip-client\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NTRIP Client<\/a> users (in the upper window) and Base Stations (in the lower window).\u00a0 This is of value when the Caster is busy with new connection traffic and new console events may be occurring more quickly than is easily processed by the human eye. [<span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Hint:<\/strong> <\/span>Use the <strong>Pause<\/strong> button just above these windows to freeze the console log for short periods of time.]<\/p>\n<p>For both displays a week long time stamp is shown\u00a0 (using the machine&#8217;s local time zone). Often the prior period of time which the connection has been online is also shown<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-8176 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/EventsWindow.png?_t=1654109098\" alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"530\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/EventsWindow.png 330w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/EventsWindow-187x300.png 187w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/EventsWindow-31x50.png 31w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/EventsWindow-320x514.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Users<\/h3>\n<p>For user connections the name of the user (if any) as well as the requested mountPt is shown in the upper display.\u00a0 The terms <strong>On<\/strong>, <strong>Off<\/strong>, and <strong>Bad<\/strong> are used to indicate the state of the connection.\u00a0 Multiple similar connections may be grouped together as one event.\u00a0 Thus, you can see that a given user has tried to connect X times in a row.<\/p>\n<h3>Bases<\/h3>\n<p>For Base Stations connections (involving all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/stream-types\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">types of streams<\/a>) the lower display shows the name of the base involved.\u00a0 The terms <strong>Up<\/strong>, <strong>Dw<\/strong>, and <strong>Bd<\/strong> are used to indicate the state of the connection. Like the display of users, multiple similar connections may be grouped together as one event.\u00a0 Thus, you can see that a given base has tried to connect X times in a row.<\/p>\n<p>In the display at the right, the upper window shows a user (aaaTestUser) connecting to the Base Station WalnutGroveBase multiple times over a span of ~2 hours.\u00a0 The lower window shows the WalnutGroveBase Base Station being offline during some of that same period of time.\u00a0 The connection to the source of this base had to be repeated 15 times before it was again established.\u00a0 The Base Station AZU1_RTCM is also shown going offline several minutes later.<\/p>\n<p>You can resize these windows by dragging left or right on the separation bar.<br \/>\nYou can enable\/disable them with <strong>Show Sums<\/strong> check box.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alongside the right side of the SNIP display are two resizable windows called the &#8220;Major Event Windows&#8221; &#8211; this article discusses the information they present.
