{"id":8428,"date":"2022-06-21T14:53:26","date_gmt":"2022-06-21T14:53:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=8428"},"modified":"2022-06-28T13:47:58","modified_gmt":"2022-06-28T13:47:58","slug":"release-3_05_00-changes","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/release-3_05_00-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Release 3_05_00 Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is new in the<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> SNIP<\/span> 3_05_00 release<\/strong> &#8211; released June 21st, 2022<br \/>\n(updating the prior release of 3_04 issued on December 30th, 2021)<\/p>\n<p>This is the next production release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> following the Rev 3_04 release.\u00a0 This release contains the <strong>Web API Plug-In<\/strong>, as well as various minor improvements in response to user requests. It is recommended that all deployments upgrade to this edition.<\/p>\n<p>This release supports both 32-bit and 64-bit installations on all Windows Platforms from Windows 7 to the current editions.\u00a0 It is recommended that all Windows 32\/64 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> installations now update to using this release.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Changes in this release include<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>The Web API Plug-In<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The most major visible change is the release of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/web-api-top-page\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Web API Plug-In<\/a><\/strong>, over 6 months in development.\u00a0 This improvement allows <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong><em>Pro<\/em> <\/strong><\/span>models of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> to perform the daily tasks of Caster management remotely with any web browser.\u00a0 Authorized users (and authorized <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/user-accounts-vs-customer-accounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Customer Accounts<\/a> if you allow it) can remotely see details about User Accounts and Base Stations.\u00a0 They can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/web-api-add-a-user\/\"><strong>add<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/web-api-add-a-base\/\"><strong>edit<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/web-api-delete-a-user\/\"><strong>delete<\/strong><\/a> both Users and Bases, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/web-api-map-baseusers\/\"><strong>plot<\/strong><\/a> user movements on a variety of maps.\u00a0 Your tech support staff will no longer need direct access to the Host machine to assist your customers. If you allow it, selected Customer Accounts can also create and manage both Users and Bases up to the predefined limits you set for them.\u00a0 A security management system limits Customer Account access to only the devices they are assigned to.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/WebAPI_mainPages.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/WebAPI_mainPages-300x181.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"303\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/WebAPI_mainPages-300x181.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/WebAPI_mainPages-1024x617.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/WebAPI_mainPages-768x463.png 768w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/WebAPI_mainPages-50x30.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/WebAPI_mainPages-920x554.png 920w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/WebAPI_mainPages-600x361.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/WebAPI_mainPages-320x193.png 320w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/WebAPI_mainPages.png 1212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 303px) 100vw, 303px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/downloads\/snip_web\/\">Web API<\/a> is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/plug-ins\/\">Plug-In module<\/a> intended for <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>Pro<\/strong> <\/em><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/which-model\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">model<\/a> users.\u00a0 It is described further in about a dozen separate pages in the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> knowledge base.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/web-api-top-page\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This page<\/a> serves as an introduction to the various reports and operations you can perform.\u00a0 The Web API is fully integrated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/downloads\/enhanced-user-management\/\">Enhanced User Management<\/a> Plug-In and with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/downloads\/email-support\/\">eMail<\/a> Plug-In to make outreach to your Customers and User account seamless.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>NEAR Stream Improvements<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Three improvements have been made to the way the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/nearest-streams-tab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> NEAR Stream<\/a> pools can be set up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">An <strong>Add All<\/strong> button was added to complement the <em>remove all<\/em> button when editing the Base Stations that make up a NEAR pool.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Time reduction; all NEAR Streams now will start in 2 minutes (rather than 3 minutes) after the Caster and the stream members become stable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">A new &#8220;offset \/ weight&#8221; control has been added to each <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/near-settings-using-base-station-lists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NEAR pool<\/a> member.\u00a0 With this control you can &#8220;tweak&#8221; the distance logic used to select which Base a given User will be assigned to.\u00a0 The typical use case for this is a network of GNSS Base stations where one or more of the stations is older and the Caster operator wants to de-emphasize their use in the network so that only those users very close to such a base will be connected.\u00a0 This control allows both a percentage and a distance input.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/NEARpoolOffset.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/NEARpoolOffset-300x173.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"330\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/NEARpoolOffset-300x173.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/NEARpoolOffset-50x29.png 50w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/NEARpoolOffset-600x345.png 600w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/NEARpoolOffset-320x184.png 320w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/NEARpoolOffset.png 660w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Misc Improvements in this release<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The use of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/ip-and-port-forwarding\/\">IP Mapping function<\/a> (to remap your public IP and private IPs when behind a firewall) is now part of the Lite model of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>.
