{"id":8703,"date":"2023-03-02T22:08:17","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T22:08:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=8703"},"modified":"2023-06-05T23:46:31","modified_gmt":"2023-06-05T23:46:31","slug":"release-3_09_00-changes","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/release-3_09_00-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Release 3_09_00 Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is new in the<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> SNIP<\/span> 3_09_00 release<\/strong> &#8211; released March 02 2023<br \/>\n(updating the prior release of 3_08 issued on December 28th, 2022)<\/p>\n<p>This is the next production release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> following the Rev 3_08 release.\u00a0 This release contains various <em>major and <\/em><em>minor<\/em> improvements in response to user requests.<\/p>\n<p>This release supports both 32-bit and 64-bit installations on all Windows Platforms from Windows 7 to the current editions.\u00a0 It is <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>STRONGLY<\/strong><\/span> recommended that all Windows 32\/64 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> installations now update to using this release.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Changes in this release include<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Map Displays<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A recent change in the Google Map API (with the release of Revision 3.52) caused all <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> Casters \u00a0to lose some basic map image abilities.\u00a0 The Maps for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/web-api-top-page\/\">WebAPI<\/a> and some other reports using maps were not affected.\u00a0 This release overcomes that by forcing the use of an older version of the API.\u00a0 In addition, a number of other stock Java scripts have been updated to use current releases. Further details on this problem (and how to fix it by hand if you do not care to upgrade your copy of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> at this time) can be found at: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/google-map-changes-updating\/\">https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/google-map-changes-updating\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A feature request to be able to control the radius used for the two transparent coverage circles drawn for \u201cL1-Only\u201d and \u201cL1+L2\u201d RTK coverage has now been implemented. \u00a0Under the document viewer menu <strong>Window<\/strong> is a new item called <strong>Settings<\/strong>. \u00a0When selected, a simple dialog box allows the operator to set the value for each in kilometers.\u00a0 Toggle the check boxes for L1 and\/or L2 found in the Map Legend to see the new values.\u00a0 It should be stressed these limits are just for general information and the results seen by any individual rover will vary based on other environmental factors. As the saying goes, your mileage may vary.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8702 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/MapSettings.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/MapSettings.png 300w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/MapSettings-50x30.png 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Push-In Streams<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A new feature allows adding an \u201calias\u201d name to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/reserving-pushed-mountpoint\/\">Push-In reservations<\/a> for a Base Station.\u00a0 This supports the unusual use case where the mountPt name of the Pushed-In Base cannot be controlled by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/question-what-is-an-ntrip-caster\/\">NTRIP Caster<\/a> operator and another name is desired.\u00a0 A few reports now list both names when this feature is used.<\/p>\n<p>All Non-reserved Push-In connections are now always given a unique indexing value.\u00a0 This overcomes a problem experienced in the last release (mostly by Lite model users) where only the first Non-reserved Push-In connections could be selected.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Push-Out Streams<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The directional arrows used to indicate various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/stream-types\/\">stream types<\/a> in other lists has been added to the list used in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/sending-pushed-out-data\/\">Push-Out setup<\/a> dialog.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Serial Streams<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The baud rate 4800 has been added to the supported rates in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/adding-serial-uart-data-streams\/\">serial setup dialog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>P.F.A.T.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Corrected an indexing error in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/pfat-filter-dialog-controls\/\">PFAT Filter dialog<\/a> where checking on an individual message type would result in another message type being incorrectly selected.\u00a0 The problem manifested itself when there were some messages in the Base Station data stream that were sent at very slow rates &#8211; when they arrived the prior list order was disturbed.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Misc. Improvements<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In-bound data rates displayed at the bottom of the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> window are now averaged over a rolling 10 second interval.\u00a0 This change was made to provide a more accurate average data rate.\u00a0 As a rule every GNSS Base Station sends out its observational messages at the top of each new second.\u00a0 This results in a burst of processing as every connected station hits the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> NTRIP Caster at that moment.\u00a0 This could periodically align with the label update rate on <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> (an asynchronous process that is run every second) resulting in alternating large and small values. \u00a0The new method mitigates this.[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> now replies to any HTTP HEAD request with just the header portion of the NTRIP Rev2 Caster Table.\u00a0 This change was made to support various uptime robots that may probe the Caster seeking a HEAD reply.\u00a0 In a strict standards based sense, use of the HEAD verb is not defined by NTRIP.\u00a0 The correct reply would be to send back the entire Caster table.\u00a0 The current reply also supports the needs for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/ntrip-rev1-versus-rev2-formats\/\">NTRP Rev2 Clients<\/a> who wish to examine the NTRIP flags indicating what options the Caster supports.[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>When a valid email is required for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/adding-user-accounts\/\">User Account<\/a> to access the Caster (set under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/managing-user-accounts\/\"><strong>Manage User Accounts<\/strong> dialog<\/a>) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/email-for-ntrip-clients\/\">eMail Plug-In<\/a> is present, and the user has made a sufficient number of bad connections in a row, a warning email is sent out (as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/ntrip-client-warnings\/\">described here<\/a> ).\u00a0 The email text used has now been improved to mention that a valid email account is expected from the user.\u00a0 And any <em>SNIP-2-SNIP<\/em> connections also receives these additional details in the reply.\u00a0[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>Entries in the connection summary report windows in the console (a <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong><em>Pro<\/em><\/strong><\/span> feature) have been improved to show the mountPt name and\/or source URL for various bad connection entries.\u00a0[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><em>How to Update\u2026<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Updates to <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> are always free and easy.\u00a0 Your Caster will be offline about 3 minutes.\u00a0 From within <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>, simply use the menu item <strong>Help<\/strong> \u21d2 <strong>Check for Updates\u2026<\/strong> \u00a0 Your update will be downloaded from our secure servers and then you will be asked to allow <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> to restart and update itself.\u00a0 On some Windows 10 systems you must also manually exit the current copy of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> to update.\u00a0 That\u2019s all there is to it!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is new in the SNIP 3_09_00 release &#8211; released March 02 2023 (updating the prior release of 3_08 issued on December 28th, 2022) This is the next production release of SNIP following the Rev 3_08 release.\u00a0 This release contains various major and minor improvements in response to user requests.
