{"id":8916,"date":"2023-11-29T21:15:18","date_gmt":"2023-11-29T21:15:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=8916"},"modified":"2023-11-30T17:10:32","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T17:10:32","slug":"release-3_13_00-changes","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/release-3_13_00-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"Release 3_13_00 Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is new in the<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> SNIP<\/span> 3_13_00 release<\/strong> &#8211; released November 29th, 2023<br \/>\n(updating the prior release of 3_12 issued on October 30th, 2023)<\/p>\n<p>This is the next production release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> following the Rev 3_12 release.\u00a0 This release contains both <em>major and <\/em><em>minor<\/em> improvements in response to user requests.\u00a0 This release supports both 32-bit and 64-bit installations on all Windows Platforms from Windows 7 to the current editions.<\/p>\n<p>It is recommended that all Windows <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> installations now update to using this release. You must do this is you wish the Google Map display functions to again work.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Changes in this release include<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Map and Google API<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> internal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/the-document-viewer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">document viewer<\/a> (a web engine call Chromium) has been updated as well as the Google API revision used (now at rev 3.53). Unlike most software vendors, Google does not provide any Long-term support (LTS) release for the Map API, which was responsible for creating this problem. \u00a0This release of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> now also allows selecting which API revision is to used, a defensive mechanism should the problem occur again.\u00a0 We are taking steps to also support the use of OpenStreetMap (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.openstreetmap.org\">https:\/\/www.openstreetmap.org<\/a>) in <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> in future releases.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Enter IP values and Ranges<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A new dialog box simplifies entering single IP values or entering more complex ranges of IP values than the prior ranges of only a x.x.x.*\u00a0 style.\u00a0 This feature was requested by deployments who wished to be able to block arbitrarily large public and private IP ranges.\u00a0 The dialog can be used to enter both <strong><em>temporary<\/em> <\/strong>and <strong><em>permanent<\/em> <\/strong>IPs to be blocked \/ banned and also for any IP that are to be <strong><em>exempt<\/em> <\/strong>from the banning process. \u00a0\u00a0The dialog is described in more detail in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/entering-ip-values-to-block-or-allow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this article<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/IPblockDialog.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-8909 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/IPblockDialog.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"390\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/IPblockDialog.png 390w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/IPblockDialog-266x300.png 266w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/IPblockDialog-44x50.png 44w, https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/IPblockDialog-320x361.png 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 390px) 100vw, 390px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Misc. improvements<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In the Rev 3.12 release some <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>Lite<\/strong><\/em><\/span> model deployments could not link to a simple \u201cpoint map\u201d of the base station from the general <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/status-button-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">STATUS report<\/a> page. This has now been corrected.\u00a0 [<span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>Basic<\/strong><\/em><\/span> and <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><strong>Pro<\/strong><\/em><\/span> models of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> produce a more elaborate map images.][spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>Various reports now show IP ranges as a two line entries in the tables when a range is used. This was changed to align report formats with the new IP dialog described above.[spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>When refreshing a \u201cpretty\u201d map (a map with various radius circles showing the coverage areas), the refresh button did not always produce a new updated map. This has now been corrected. [spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>The automatic detection and sending of an email warning for a monitored base station <a href=\"https:\/\/www.use-snip.com\/kb\/knowledge-base\/automatic-error-reports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">going offline<\/a> was found to have an error in the string matching logic. The small direction icon arrows shown next to the name interfered with correctly detecting the desired base station.\u00a0 This has been corrected. [spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<li>The readability of NTRIP user agent strings in some reports has been improved to use non-breaking spaces in various places when displayed. [spacer height=&#8221;15px&#8221; id=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><em>How to Update\u2026<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Updates to <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> are always free and easy.\u00a0 Your Caster will be offline about 3 minutes.\u00a0 From within <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span>, simply use the menu item <strong>Help<\/strong> \u21d2 <strong>Check for Updates\u2026<\/strong> \u00a0 Your update will be downloaded from our secure servers and then you will be asked to allow <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> to restart and update itself.\u00a0 On some Windows 10 systems you must also manually exit the current copy of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>SNIP<\/strong><\/span> to update.\u00a0 It takes under three minutes to do and have your Caster back on-line.
